Elizabeth Tarrant - Democrat
I am running for Texas House District seat 97 to represent you, your family, and your needs in Austin. I work as an Operator at Texas Crude Energy, LLC. and own a small business called Liz’s Arts and Crafts.
I come from a long line of public servants and was raised in a family with a dedication to service. On my maternal side, my late grandfather, Bonifacio Chavarria Dominguez served as the first Hispanic Commissioner in Texas, Police Officer and respected Detective, Southside Lions Club member, and Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 322. On my paternal side, I am the great niece of General Edward H. Tarrant whom Tarrant County was named for. He served in the House of Representatives of the Second Congress of the Republic of Texas and when Texas became a state he served in the House of Representatives again after leading the Fourth Brigade during Texas’ fight for independence.
I grew up in Commerce, Texas with my parents, Keith and Lisa, and my 3 sisters, Nathallie, Reabeccah, and Madellyne. I attended Commerce High School where I was president of my school’s FFA chapter, served as an FFA Foundation State Ambassador, and earned my Lone Star FFA Degree. I participated in the marching band in both high school and college where I played flute, saxophone, danced with the Color Guard, and later joined Tau Beta Sigma – National Honorary Band Sorority. I participated in 4-H for 15 years where I showed cattle and sheep in livestock shows including the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo, Texas State Fair, and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. After years of service through 4-H I earned my Gold Star award due to my volunteering efforts in my community.
