John Cyrier

John Cyrier - Republican (Incumbent)

John Cyrier serves as the State Representative for HD 17, which includes Bastrop, Caldwell, Gonzales, Karnes and Lee Counties.

After receiving a degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, John embarked on a career in commercial general contracting. He founded Sabre Commercial, Inc. in 2008 and under his leadership Sabre has been consistently ranked in the top-10 of the Austin Business Journal’s “Best Places to Work” and “Fast 50” list of the fastest growing companies in Central Texas. He was nominated for the journal’s Best CEO award in 2014.

John was appointed and then elected as Caldwell County Commissioner in 2010 and County Judge Pro-Tem until 2013. During his tenure, he focused his efforts on transportation, subdivision rules and regulations, and economic development.

Active in the community, John was a founding board member of the Lockhart ISD Education Foundation. He is a member of the Lockhart and Bastrop Chambers of Commerce, and has served on the board of Caritas of Austin, Capital Area Food Bank, San Marcos Airport Commission, Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization, Austin Area Research Organization (AARO), and is a Precinct Chairman for the Caldwell County Republican Party. His service also includes the Executive Boards for the Real Estate Council of Austin, Capital Area Housing and Finance Corporation, Greater San Marcos Partnership, and Chairman for the Associated General Contractors of America’s Austin Chapter.

John and his wife, Rachelle, live on their ranch just outside of Lockhart, TX. Together, they manage a registered Texas Longhorn Herd and are members of the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association, Texas Longhorn Breeders Association, and Texas Farm Bureau. He is also a lifetime member of the NRA and Texas State Rifle Association. John is a 1995 graduate of Texas A&M University, where he served as Commander of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band. In his free time, he is proud to serve as Vice Chair of the Caldwell County A&M Club and he enjoys flying his vintage 1941 Stearman Biplane.
