Tony Dale - Republican (Incumbent)
Representative Tony Dale was first elected to Texas House of Representatives in the 2012. He is a member of the Energy Resources Committee, the Homeland Security and Public Safety Committee and the Local and Consent Calendars committee. He is a former member of the House Select Committee on Child Protection. Tony also serves as the Chairman of the House Energy Caucus. He was named a 2013 and 2015 Courageous Conservative by the Texas Conservative Coalition and was awarded the 2013 Lone Star Conservative Award by the Texas Conservative Roundtable. In 2013 and 2015 the Texas Association of Business gave him their top award of Champion For Free Enterprise. He is A Rated by the Concerned Women For America for his voting record in the 83rd Legislative Session. The American Conservative Union named him a 2013 “ACU Conservative”. In 2013 The Combined Law Enforcement of Texas awarded Tony the Freshman of the Year Award and in 2015 they named him, “Best of the House”. The readers of the Hill Country News newspaper honored Tony by naming him the Best Elected Official in 2013 and 2015 and runner up in 2014.
Tony Dale’s commitment to service started long before his election to state representative. Prior to his election to the legislature he served on the Cedar Park City Council where he voted to keep taxes low and to reduce the city’s debt. He was appointed to a vacant seat in 2009 and was re-elected in 2010 and 2011. Tony fought to protect the property rights of Cedar Park citizens as Secretary and later Vice Chairman of the Cedar Park Planning and Zoning Commission. During his tenure on the Williamson County Conservation Foundation Board of Directors, he worked to reduce the federal government’s control of development by gaining local control over federally mandated endangered species regulations. He fortified the city’s guiding charter as a member of the Cedar Park Charter Review Committee. In 2004 former State Representative Dan Gattis appointed him as a member of the State Textbook Review Panel for the Texas Education Agency.
Tony Dale’s life-long conservative Republican roots run deep. Since moving to Williamson County in 2001 he immediately got involved in the local conservative movement. He was Precinct Chairman of the Williamson County Republican Party from 2002-2007. Tony has represented Williamson County as an alternate or delegate to Texas State Republican Conventions from 2002 to 2014. He was elected as a Delegate to the 2008 Republican National Convention and was Chairman of the Senate District 5 Caucus at the Republican Party of Texas State Convention in 2004 and Chairman of the Congressional District 31 Caucus 2012. Tony served as a Williamson County Election Judge from 2002-2005. In the late 1980’s in college he was elected President of the College Republicans and State Co-Chairman of the Ohio College Republican Federation.
Service to country runs in Tony’s family. As a fifth generation decorated veteran, Tony served our country in the U.S. Army. Tony met his wife of 24 years, Mary Lopez Dale, when they enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserves. Both served in ROTC and upon college graduation were stationed with the 1st Cavalry Division at Fort Hood. In 1997 they left the Army, both having achieved the rank of Captain. Tony is a charter member of the Hunter-Morris Memorial American Legion Post 911. His military decorations include the Parachutist Badge, Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Expert Marksman Badge (rifle and pistol) and the Noble Patron of Armor from the US Army Armor Association.
Tony is a small business owner and has a consulting firm advising clients on energy related matters. In 2009 the Railroad Commission of Texas appointed Tony to the board of the Alternative Fuels Research Education Division. He is also a member of the Cedar Park and Leander Chambers of Commerce.
Tony is a graduate of The Ohio State University. For 24 years he has been married to Mary Lopez Dale. Mary is also a former Army Captain and owner of The Mary Dale Law Firm, PLLC in Cedar Park. He and Mary have two daughters who attend Leander ISD schools and they are active members of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
