Contract Outreach Associate (Remote)

About Us

Public Blueprint is an Austin, Texas-based public affairs firm specializing in government relations, communications, digital and grassroots advocacy.  Through a combination of deep relationships in and around the Texas Capitol, unrivaled work ethic, and a passion for innovation, we provide our clients with the counsel, planning, and execution necessary to achieve their public policy goals.

Here’s what you should know if you want to be an Outreach Associate at Public Blueprint:

‪As a Contract Outreach Associate, you will be our client's face to the grasstops and grassroots leaders in our state in your area. We’re looking for an enthusiastic and people-driven, people-focused individual who truly understands the current electorate in Texas. You will need to be able to quickly establish meaningful relationships and trust with a dynamic, ever-changing, and passionate group of opinion leaders who are educated on their issues and love the process—whether it's by phone, in person, or online. You must possess the will to break through and truly connect with someone you may not already know.

You’ll join a creative team that’s fast-paced but knows how to have fun. This entry- to mid-level position requires you to be able to dig in and learn new industries and issues, and enjoy doing it; reduce the noise to a minimum and communicate ideas clearly, doing it with confidence and listening with intention.

You must be a natural collaborator who thrives in a start-up environment and has a firm understanding and passion for the Texas political process and its various players inside and outside the state capitol.

Finally, you’ll contribute to the culture of our team, helping us elevate the creative and quality standards of our work every day.

The ideal person has:

  • Excellent people skills, including the ability to communicate clearly by phone, in-person, and online;

  • An existing relationship with political partisans, activists, and opinion leaders in Dallas/Ft. Worth and other key areas of the state;

  • An authentic appreciation for the grasstops and grassroots leaders of our state;

  • The confidence to enter a room of strangers and leave having made lasting connections;

  • The focus to manage data and reporting from the field and a basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel;

  • The skill to take diverse and often complex ideas and communicate them to individuals who are new to the subject matter clearly in both written and verbal communication form;

  • Strong research chops to find compelling data points to aid with our overall messaging;

  • Capable writing skills to prepare reports for internal team and clients;

  • A strategic mind for devising new and innovative ways to reach new individuals and constituencies;

  • Flexibility to work on a wide range of projects at once, moving everything towards completion as necessary;

  • The professional resilience to respond to constantly changing requirements, deadlines, and insights, and the ability to think and plan ahead;

  • The independence to be a dependable self-starter but enjoys collaborating with a close-knit team;

  • Superior organization skills and the ability to juggle multiple clients, personalities, and projects;

  • The resiliency to work under tight deadlines and occasional high-pressure situations; and

  • A “big picture” mindset with the ability to look beyond a specific piece of a project and see the larger campaign.

On any given day you might:

  • Attend a political or organization meeting on behalf of a client—sometimes to present, sometimes just to attend and make new connections;

  • Call individuals and introduce them to the client or the project;

  • Curate our database and ensure all information is up-to-date and accurate;

  • Solicit, plan, and attend one-on-one meetings with individuals to make new connections;

  • Do absolutely anything necessary that may arise to ensure the continued success of our small, thriving firm (we all wear a lot of hats and do what needs doing; no one here is above any task, big or small!).

You must bring:

  • High energy with a can-do and collaborative attitude, and a willingness to learn;

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferable, but not essential).

Salary and Benefits:

  • This is a full-time, contract position based remotely. Client needs are different, so qualified applicants may be asked to move if their current location does not make sense for the situation.

  • Salary commensurate with experience.
