A native West Texan, Rep. Charles Perry spent his childhood in Sweetwater, TX, graduating from Sweetwater High School in 1980. In 1984, he earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accounting and management information systems from Texas Tech University. Currently, Perry owns and operates a successful certified public accountant (CPA) firm in Lubbock, Texas.
Perry has been married to his beautiful wife, Jacklyn for over 32 years and together they have a daughter, Jordan, and a son, Matthew. The entire family graduated from Texas Tech University.
Elected to the Texas House of Representatives in 2010, Charles Perry currently represents citizens of House District 83 –which includes Borden, Gaines, Lubbock (partial), Lynn, Mitchell, Terry and Scurry counties. If elected to the Texas Senate, he will represent citizens in Childress, Lamb, Hale, Floyd, Motley, Cottle, Hardeman, Foard, Wilbarger, Hockley, Lubbock, Crosby, Dickens, King, Knox, Baylor, Terry, Lynn, Garza, Kent, Stonewall, Haskell, Throckmorton, Dawson, Borden, Scurry, Fisher, Jones, Shackelford, Stephens, Mitchell, Nolan, Eastland, Sterling, Coke, Runnels, Coleman, Mcculloch, Concho, Tom Green, Irion, Reagan, Upton, Crane, Ward, Mason, Kimble, Menard, Schleicher, Sutton and Taylor (partial) counties.

Perry has earned a reputation as principle-driven conservative serving on the House Committee on Appropriations, as Vice-Chair of the House Committee on Government Efficiency and Reform and the Select Committee on Transparency in State Agency Operations. He is a member of the Texas Legislative Sportsman’s Caucus, the Texas House Republican Caucus, and serves as a Vice-Chair of the Rural Caucus of the Texas Legislature. Perry has worked on healthcare legislation, education reform, government efficiencies and creating a more transparent budget.
In addition to his work in the Legislature, Perry has served his community as president of the Lubbock Boys and Girls Club, American Business Clubs, Community Partners, on the board of the National Council on Family Violence, and the National Teen Dating Abuse Helpline. He is also a deacon at his church, Southcrest Baptist.
