Mike Lang - Republican
Mike Lang has served his community for over 30 years. After much prayer and consideration with his family, he has decided to continue his service to his neighbors and run to be the State Representative for HD 60.
Mike was raised in Sterling, Illinois, in a small farming town. He understands the value of hard work. During his senior year of high school, Mike’s family relocated to Plano, Texas, where he graduated from Plano Senior High School. He decided that he loved Texas so much that he chose to stay and attended Texas Christian University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice.
Mike currently resides in Granbury with his loving wife, Katie. They are active members at Stonewater Church where they attend. They have one son, Ryan, who lives and works in Fort Worth as a successful finance manager.
The Lang’s have dedicated themselves to their community by serving in public office. Mike served as a law enforcement officer for 30 years and was elected in 2013 to be the Constable for Hood County. He won the primary election without a run-off, which entailed a three-person race, and he was unopposed in the general election. Katie also ran for an elected position and currently holds public office as Hood County’s County Clerk.
With his extensive service as a law enforcement officer and as a Constable, Mike understands that to be an effective leader you must be a servant of the people. During his service in law enforcement, Mike earned numerous awards including the Congressman’s Medal of Valor and the Purple Heart National Law Enforcement Citation. Mike has led a respected and distinguished career, but his commitment to better the lives of Texans is far from over.
Mike became frustrated in watching as our freedoms and liberties were slowly being stripped away. He was tired of having a representative who neglects the needs of his district for the wants of special interest groups. So in 2012, Mike decided to join the Hood County Republican Party and the Hood County Tea Party in order to become more involved with local politics. Mike has become a large part of the conservative movement in Hood County and has raised awareness of the problems that our State is facing due to the lack of leadership in Austin.
Mike believes in God, conviction and discipline. “It is our duty as citizens to stand up for justice and for what is right”.
